This article covers some basic emulators for NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, & the original Sony Playstation. There are more out there too (Atari, N64, Game Boy, and others). Most of you know that old-skool platforms such as these are what I dearly love. There's so much out there too! Also, grab yourself a cheap USB gamepad (Logitech has always worked for me) and you'll be ready to rock.

Several of these are in my repositories, but I've never been able to get the ROMs to work correctly.   Sad

I've never had a problem with the games (ROMs).

I'll be glad to show you how to use them at the next meeting we're both at.

Oh, my wife would love that!  She grew up playing those games.

I'll load the emulator and we'll see if we can get some SNES games up and running.

Very cool!  Cool

How To Play Your Old DOS Games In Linux

Quote
Old stuff rock again! The Hipster community is growing, Amiga is proposing a new computer (running Linux), vintage cars are trendy, etc. To follow the stream, nothing can beat the emulation of old games. Take a break from the most recent FPS and go back to the origin. What made video games what they are today? Story, game play, graphics, soundtrack? The best way to remember is to play again. And why not start with DOS games?

Old DOS games are available for free at many websites.  Keep in mind, however, that some games are only demo versions.

Top 5 Linux Gaming Emulators

Quote
The history of Linux in gaming is quite poor, but this year so many changes happened in this area that we might be able to review top commercial video games very soon. By commercial I mean those created by most significant gaming companies like Ubisoft or Bethesda, and not indie video games. Even though real gaming in Linux based operating systems got a boost this year, emulators were everywhere to be found, for most known video game consoles.
