"Linux Mint 12 'Lisa' will come with its own customized desktop and it will be based on Gnome 3."

http://www.ubuntuvibes.com/2011/11/linux-mint-12-lisa-to-come-with.html

Wonder if the Linux Mint folks will see a real climb in new users with Unity still disappointing so many?

Linux Mint 12 gets GNOME 3 with training wheels

Quote
Linux Mint 12, code-named "Lisa", is based on the current Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneric Ocelot" release. The Mint developers have not adopted Ubuntu's own Unity desktop which was introduced in Ubuntu 11.04, but had stuck with GNOME 2.32, though now the GNOME developers are no longer developing the GNOME 2 series. Linux Mint 12 is expected to appear towards the end of November.

Here we go again!

Linux Mint Pulls Ahead of Ubuntu

Quote
Distrowatch.com displays a popularity list of all Linux distributions by measuring the number of hits per page on their site. This ranking system is considered to be one of the most reliable around. Even if it is only a measurement of one website’s traffic. Lately Linux Mint has been making a run at first place.

Not surprising!

I enjoy using both UBUNTU and MINT on different computers. I think the new Unity interface on Ubuntu looks cool! I was a little disappointed with Mint 12, however. I was trying to add shortcuts to the panel or desktop without success. Unless there's a different way to get that accomplished that I haven't discovered yet.
On Mint 11 I had Firefox designated as a startup program when my wife logs on. That's the only thing she does on the computer anyway so I like to make it easy for her. I didn't see a way to designate a startup up like that in Mint 12. So for now I have't really seen a big improvement from Mint 11 to 12 other than the obvious application selection layout.

mediabdude,
Keep in mind that Mint 12 is still in development, and you WILL find bugs. Its in RC, which is essentially beta. That may be a bug they will fix before the final release.

The popular Linux distribution, Mint, will be giving its users three different distinct flavors of the GNOME for their desktop in its next release, Linux Mint 12, Lisa.

Even more press.  Mint is on the rise.

Hey Doc,
That link is full of misinformation. The linux mint forums tell a different tale. Those are the RC iso's available for download now. The "Final" iso's haven't been released yet as they're still trying to stabilize MATE and Gnome Classic.
Lets just wait for an "official" notification from Clement on the release.

The files are coming from Multiupload.

That's interesting.  Softpedia is usually pretty good about checking releases before posting.  Hmmmm...

Not sure what to make of this.

There's no official announcement on the Linux Mint website, yet the ISO images for Linux Mint 12 (Lisa) are aready available on the official Linux Mint mirrors.

We've talked to Clement Lefebvre and he told us that these are the final ISO builds of Linux Mint 12. "Yes, but it's not official yet Smiley Regards, Clement Lefebvre".

Try this:

http://linuxfreedom.com/linuxmint/linuxmint.com/stable/12/linuxmint-12-gnome-dvd-32bit.iso

http://linuxfreedom.com/linuxmint/linuxmint.com/stable/12/linuxmint-12-gnome-dvd-64bit.iso

http://linuxfreedom.com/linuxmint/linuxmint.com/stable/12/linuxmint-12-gnome-cd-nocodecs-32bit.iso

http://linuxfreedom.com/linuxmint/linuxmint.com/stable/12/linuxmint-12-gnome-cd-nocodecs-64bit.iso

The mirrors seem to be working.

Downloads complete.
